Shannon Beginner Cardigan Knit Kit

I loved everything about knitting this cardy. It has given me the confidence to do so much more. The only thing I’d change is the sleeves were too short, so I unpicked them and added a couple more rows.

Just about finished it, yah!!! I am a beginner, as in I could knit a scarf when I was a kid but couldn't cast on/off, and haven't picked up the needles since then.

I still struggled with some of the instructions (happy to explain for more detailed feedback) and it definitely took me way longer that 7 hours (maybe more like 21hrs) but it has ignited my love for knitting and this will be the first of many new projects.

The best part about this project was how much satisfaction you got, because the wool is so thick it does knit quickly (just not 7 hours quickly for me), so when I had to unpick I didn't mind as much.

I also got stuck a few times so had to facetime my Mum to walk me through my f**k ups, so I recommend having a knitting expert that you can also call on to help you understand why it isn't looking like the picture!

This cardigan was so much fun to make to the point where I was looking forward to coming home after a hard days work, relax and start knitting. Regarding the pattern itself, it was pretty straight forward. The only thing I really struggled with was decreasing the stitches on the sleeves to narrow them but I got the hang of it eventually. It took me 2-3 months to make start to finish. I love my chunky cardigan and will never stop bragging about the fact that I made it myself !!!

I’ve finished my 1st ever cardigan and I’ve absolutely loved learning to knit with Cardigang. I’ve tried to learn previously but always given up in frustration. I can’t wait to start my next knit - the hard part will be deciding what fabulous kit to choose next.

Great easy cardigan to make. Had some difficulties trying to figure out how to join the sleeves as the video instructions provided were for a different stitch. I still managed to work out a way to do it seamlessly.

First time knitter here and it’s safe to say I am hooked! It took a while to get the hang of things and I wish the videos showed more of the “real basics” such as which hole to poke the needle through and how to knit the second row. But once I got into it, the rest of the cardi was a breeze. I found myself knitting every night and it was a relaxing and therapeutic process. I followed the M size guide and knitted 2 extra rows on the sleeves, but I should have lengthened them by 6 rows to make them extra baggy. I swapped 1x ball of Baby Blues out for Bolting Blue to knit the cuffs a different colour like the Helen Cardi. I get compliments on my cardigan all the time and it’s the perfect layer to wear in winter since the wool is so thick and cozy! Can’t wait to knit a hundred more 🧶
